October 18, 2004 – The directors of Ellsworth Convertible Growth and Income Fund, Inc. (AMEX: ECF) has announced that it will hold its annual meeting of shareholders on Friday, January 14, 2005.

Holders of common stock of record as of close of business on November 17, 2004 will be entitled to vote at the meeting.

Ellsworth Convertible Growth and Income Fund, Inc. is a closed-end management investment company with more than $100 million in net assets.  The Fund's shares are listed on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol ECF.
