Announces Shareholder Meeting Date

November 17, 2003 – The directors of Ellsworth Convertible Growth and Income Fund, Inc. has announced that it will hold its annual meeting of shareholders on Saturday, February 14, 2004.

Holders of common stock (AMEX: ECF) of record as of close of business on December 18 will be entitled to vote at the meeting.

Ellsworth Convertible Growth and Income Fund, Inc. is a closed-end management investment company with more than $90 million in net assets.  The Fund's shares are listed on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol ECF.
